Maintenance and surveillance in Lobos

The Ministry of the Environment, Fight against Climate Change, Circular Economy and R + D + i of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura led by Marlene Figueroa has received this week an electric vehicle type “buggie” 4X4 that will be used for maintenance and surveillance environment in the Islote de Lobos Natural Park.

The Minister Marlene Figueroa has pointed out that “the values ​​and resources of the Islote de Lobos and its special fragility as an ecosystem make it even more necessary to control, monitor and conserve it, therefore it is of vital interest to have an adapted vehicle to the environment, and contemplating the sustainable development goals (SDG), as well as, complying with the Paris Climate Action agreement and finally so that the Islote de Lobos Natural Park continues to be a sustainable and 100% clean island, the vehicle It must be electric ”.

The Islote de Lobos Natural Park is an ecosystem recognized for having a high environmental wealth, which corresponds to its level of protection insofar as it is representative of the natural system and minor subsystems (salt marshes, jable de los hornitos, tabaibales del badlands and the varied halophilic vegetation of the coasts and salty valleys); its high biodiversity with the presence of unique endemisms of the islet such as the Lobos Immortelle (Limonium bollei), as well as the presence of marine and migratory birds, its phreatomagmatic horns, the ethnographic elements: salt pans, lime kilns and the Martiño Lighthouse, and paleontological sites of the Jadian and Erbanese periods.

The Cabildo’s Environment service has, among others, transferred the powers in matters of conservation and protection of wild flora and fauna, in accordance with article 3 of Decree 11/2002, of August 9, transferring functions of the Public Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands to the Island Councils in matters of forestry services, livestock routes and pastures; protection of the environment and management and conservation of protected natural areas.

The vehicle has the following technical specifications:

· A 72V / 5.7 Kw RWD AC system.

· 4 Places.

· 9xLDC 180 GC 8V battery pack (182 Ah @ 20hrs) AGM.

· 5.7 Kw AC motor.

· Autonomy for 60-80 km.

· A maximum load of 400 kg.

1180x930x340 (mm) cargo box.

· Structure in white galvanized steel frame and anti-corrosion treatment.

· Hydraulic 4-wheel brake with brake disc and automotive caliper.

· Charger: input 110V-240V-50Hz-60Hz, output 36V / 48V, 25º.

· Seatbelts
